This course is designed to improve both the theoretical knowledge and practical skill of those who are to undertake excavation duties. Modules covered within the training below:
This module focuses on interpreting utility plans and line search documents to identify the location of underground services like pipes and cables.
Participants learn how to operate various CAT (Cable Avoidance Tool) and Genny devices to locate underground services.
This section covers the safe digging techniques, including hand digging and the use of appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
The training emphasizes recognizing the potential dangers and hazards associated with underground utilities, including those related to different soil types and excavation methods.
Participants learn the necessary steps to take in case of an emergency, such as a service strike.
The training helps in identifying different types of underground services and understanding their unique characteristics.
This module covers the responsibilities of individuals working near underground utilities in relation to health, safety, and the environment.
Participants learn how to conduct risk assessments and report findings related to underground utility work.
This module covers the legal and regulatory requirements related to working with underground services, including BSI PAS 128.
